This year, the Art Bible Child Foundation (ABC) started off with a new board. Mrs Cath. de Stigter-Janse, founder and board member of ABC, is no longer physically able to continue the work of ABC. When her husband Mr H.C.M. de Stigter passed away early 2014, ABC lost an important cornerstone. Customer’s contacts were kept by one of the founder’s daughters. She also took care of the shipping of the booklets and laminated pictures to institutions and individuals around the world. Payments for delivered materials and donations – largely from previous years – made the work financially possible.
Acknowledging that the work of ABC is of great importance, members of the Netherlands Reformed Church in Wageningen took the initiative to continue the work of the foundation. In close collaboration with the family and former board, a new board started on 14 October. The new board consists of Gerhard Zielhuis (chairman), Auke Vos (treasurer) en Henko de Stigter (secretary). Several ideas for new activities and for new ways to get ABC supported have come up, and will be sorted out in the coming years. Meanwhile ABC will stay committed to bring the Gospel to disadvantaged children by beautiful and responsible means.
The financial situation of ABC can be summarized as follows: At the start of 2014 the credit balance was 6855 euro; income (collections, donations, sales) added 1365 euro. In 2014 expenses (rent, a once only volunteer’s fee, administrative costs, expenses claim over 2012) were 6165 euro. This resulted in a credit balance of 2055 euro at the end of 2014. An extensive financial report with declaration of approval by the audit committee is available for viewing via the treasurer of ABC.
